Closing of the Bones Ceremony

The time following giving birth is one of openness, transformation and healing.

Many cultures carry traditional ceremonies throughout generations after a birth. The “Closing of the Bones” Ceremony has traditionally been used in Mexico to physically assist in shifting a women’s bones and organs back into place after the monumental change of her body as her growing uterus provided space for her baby.

Allow me to honor you as a woman and honor all that your mind, body and spirit did for your baby.

This heart centered approach celebrates the feminine spirit. Your womb is energetic. It is also a physical, creative portal that held this baby and brought it earthside.

The mother lays comfortably on a flat surface, sometimes in the same room she has birthed in. The lights will be dim and soft music will play as I wrap seven authentic rebozos around energy points on her body. The rebozos will be tightened and I will gently rock each area and help guide your body back in place. Time will be given to hold the binding effectively.

As a grounding practice, this ceremony holds space for emotions and the release of them. This can also be a respectful healing for birth trauma or unfortunate loss.

Warm oil and light massage can also be used to nourish the tissues and trigger healing and postpartum recovery. This dramatically increases calmness while it helps to reduce stress. Warmth on your womb along with an abdominal massage infuses sense of gratitude for the beauty of new life that came through it.

The Closing of the Bones Ceremony helps you to integrate and step into the next phase of welcoming, nourishing, nurturing, closing and celebrating what you were and now have become.
